RMYA Centro Seguro drop in center for homeless and sex trafficked children
SAN ANTONIO – Bill Wilkinson and Renee Garvens of Roy Maas Youth Alternatives’ Centro Seguro visit to promote their center for homeless and sex trafficked children. Opened in the Fall of 2017, Roy Maas Youth Alternatives provides a 24 hour drop in center for young people ages 11-17 in need of a safe place due to homelessness, runaway, unsafe living conditions, or falling victims to sex traffickers. RMYA helps children and families through residential and counseling services. The focus is on ending the cycle of trauma and abuse many young children experience in our community. RYMA has served more than 78,000 abused, neglected, and high-risk youth since 1976.
In addition, RYMA and Bexar County Juvenile Probation provide Centro Seguro, where the youth have access to a wide array of services such as a hot shower, a meal, a change of clothing, and immediate therapeutic support. Clients receive ongoing case management including referrals for medical, dental, and vision care as well.
Please call the hotline 210- 340- 8090, channels are open twenty-four hours a day. You can also visit www.RMYA.org to find out more information.
