More young teens are watching pornography, say researchers
More young teens are watching pornography, according to a new study from researchers at Indiana State University.
The study found boys as young as 13, and girls as young as 14, admit to watching porn.
The study also shows a third of all teens have a smartphone, which gives them instant access to the internet and exposure to explicit content.
"For teenagers to think this is the way they are supposed to act and this is the way sex is supposed to be, it can be damaging for the growing brain," said Marieka Farrenkopf, a licensed clinical social worker.
Researchers in the study recommend parents talk with kids about pornography as they enter middle school, to help them understand that what they see is not real and does not represent genuine intimacy.
