Blood at scene of jewelry heist leads police to suspected serial burglar
SAN ANTONIO -- Police have arrested a man who they say may be connected to several burglaries across the state and even one out west.
According to investigators, 41-year-old Demond Finster broke into the JCPenney store at South Park Mall back in August. Police say Finster broke the doors of the store with a hatchet and stole various jewelry and watches.
Finster was arrested Thursday. Police say he used the same 'modus operandi' seen in several retail store burglaries across the state in various cities and counties as well as on in Arizona.
Police say they were able to track him down using blood left behind on the jewelry cases. Investigators tested those samples and the DNA matched Finster's, which was already in the system following an arrest for sexual assault of a child back in 2011.
