Deputies arrest passenger in pickup truck after high speed chase, crash

SAN ANTONIO - Deputies are searching for a driver who led them on a high speed chase after the deputy tried to pull them over.

The incident started as a call for stolen construction materials at a subdivision in West Bexar County shortly before 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

The deputy spotted a truck on Highway 90 that matched a similar truck used in the theft, but when he tried to pull it over, the driver took off and led the deputy on a chase with speeds up to 80 miles per hour.

The driver exited the highway and drove into a neighborhood along Hunt Lane, eventually crashing into a parked car on Hatfield Drive.

Investigators said the driver and a passenger ran off, but the passenger was later arrested. That person faces charges of evading arrest and theft of building materials. The driver was not found.
