Driver escapes after leading deputies on chase in stolen truck
SAN ANTONIO – Three people are in custody and authorities are searching for a fourth following a chase Friday afternoon.
Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward said one of his deputies was making a routine traffic stop near Poteet High School around noon Friday, when the driver of the truck sped off.
The deputy began chasing the truck, mostly along country roads north of Poteet and was joined by Bexar County deputies and DPS troopers. The driver of the truck then reached Loop 1604 and headed to Rockport Road before stopping in front of a house.
The driver of the truck escaped but three passengers, two women and a man, were taken into custody. All three were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and evading arrest. The man was also charged with possession of marijuana.
Sheriff Soward said the truck, a blue 2010 Dodge, had been stolen in Bexar County on Wednesday.
