Family of little boy killed reacts to escape of inmates from Bexar County jail
SAN ANTONIO – The escape of three accused killers from the Bexar County jail, has left the family of a little boy in even more grief.
One of the inmates, Eric Trevino, 22, is accused of murdering Rene Blancas Jr., 3.
The toddler's father, Rene Blancas Sr., said he still not able to process how the inmates were able to get out.
“It's upsetting knowing that he got completely out. Who knows what he could have done,” said Blancas Sr.
Friday was an emotional day for his family with a lot of questions raised.
“40 minutes. He was gone for 40 minutes. It blows my mind. It’s unfair to us emotionally having to go through all this again,” added Blancas.
Blancas Jr. was shot and killed last November on the Southwest Side.
The family was driving on Briggs at new Laredo Highway when a bullet hit their son from another car. It has been real tough for the family.
“We grieve every day. She has her moments. I have my moments. We take it day by day. “
It’s pain no parent should have to go through.
“I think about my boy every second. I don't even know how to describe the feeling that we go through every day knowing that our son is not with us no more,” said Blancas Sr.
The family said their son’s case is being reviewed by the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office and that a trial hasn’t been set yet.
