Gas station workers tried to help man who was later hit, killed along Foster Road

SAN ANTONIO - A man was hit and killed as he tried to cross a busy street in East Bexar County late Tuesday night.

According to witnesses, the victim was crossing North Foster Road at Wildflower at about 10:45 p.m. when he was hit by a car in the southbound lanes.

The driver stopped to help the victim. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he died a short time later.

Witnesses told deputies the victim was crossing the street very slowly and there were also some reports that the man had been drinking and attendants at a nearby gas station tried to help sober him up before the accident.

His identity has not been released. The crash remained under investigation, but no charges are expected.
