An Arkansas couple that got caught in a tornado on Friday night said that they are “grateful to be alive.”

Savannah and Brandon Boerjan were driving home Friday night after purchasing a camper.

“Everyone around us was driving fast, so we did the same,” Savannah told KTHV in Little Rock. “Then when we came around the corner it got us and there was no turning back.”

“The tornado dropped right on top of us and slung us all across the interstate into a ditch,” Savannah said in a Facebook post.

Savannah thought that her and Brandon were going to die.

On the video, you can hear Savannah frantically say “Dear God, please forgive me for my sins. Brandon, we’re going to die. I love you! I love you!," followed by screaming.

Fortunately, both of them were wearing their seat belts when the tornado hit their vehicle.

“Seat belts helped save our lives,” Savannah said. “We wouldn’t be here if we weren’t wearing them.”

Savannah said that her shoulder is sore, but Brandon doesn’t have a scratch on him.
