Helicopter crew spots, rescues toddler who disappeared from Rocksprings home
SAN ANTONIO - A 2-year-old child who wandered away from his home near the town of Rocksprings was found and rescued by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations helicopter aircrew.
According to crew members, the child was reported missing from his home at about 11 a.m. After an initial search turned up nothing, the Air and Marine Operations crew was called up to perform an aerial search.
They spotted the boy a few miles from his home at 1:30 p.m. He was rescued and evaluated by medical crews, then reunited with his family.
"This is one of the most rewarding situations that our agents can be involved in," said Jeremy Battenfield, Director of Air Operations, Uvalde Air Branch. "Nothing brings more joy to a law enforcement officer than helping return a lost child to his family."
The little boy was not hurt.
