Hurricane Harvey: School closures
Below is a list of school closure notices we have received:
UPDATE: All SAISD school-related activities have been cancelled for Saturday due to the threat of severe weather. This includes but is not limited to Athletics, Field trips, A scheduled SAT administration at Brackenridge High School; it is rescheduled for Sept. 16, An employee Open Enrollment session at Brackenridge High School, Master Teacher professional development, The Athletic Hall of Fame event; it is rescheduled for Sept. 9
ALAMO COLLEGES DISTRICT
The Alamo Colleges District highly values the safety of our students and employees.
The National Weather Service has announced the strong possibility of heavy rain and flooding in our area tomorrow afternoon and this weekend.
In order to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors, we will close all operations (all Alamo Colleges District locations, including San Antonio College and all the colleges, all district offices and all off-site locations) beginning at noon on Friday, August 25, 2017 through the weekend.
Depending on the impact of the storm, we anticipate resuming our operations on Monday morning. Please remain tuned in to college updates over the weekend for further information. BCFS Head Start Campuses in Beeville and Karnes City will be closed Friday.
Cuero ISD offices and schools will be closed on Friday, August 25, 2017, due to the threat of severe weather conditions.
Cuero ISD officials have been monitoring the possible impacts of Tropical Depression Harvey on our area. Based on information provided to the district by the DeWitt County Emergency Management officials and the National Weather Service, it is likely that DeWitt County will experience damaging wind and heavy rain over the next few days.
Superintendent Micah Dyer and school officials will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend and make a determination by Sunday at 5:00 p.m. regarding classes resuming Monday, August 28th.
Announcements will be sent to the local media and through the school Skylert system.
FIRST BAPTIST ACADEMY
FBA will have a noon dismissal on Friday, Aug. 25. For more information, contact Office Manager Christina Hill at 210-445-0092.
FORT SAM HOUSTON ISD
JBSA non-essential will be released at noon Friday, Aug. 25. All elementary schools will be released at 12:30 p.m. and Robert G. Cole Middle and High School students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Communication between the district and the community will be available at it's website here and on social media. FALLS CITY ISD:
Falls City ISD will be closed on Friday, August 25, 2017.
Please continue to visit the FCISD website and Facebook page for the latest information regarding possible delays or cancelations for next week.
Due to the evacuations south of Floresville and the traffic conditions in our area, FISD will cancel classes on Friday, August 25th to ensure the safety of our students and staff. FISD will provide an update regarding delays or closures for Monday, August 28th by tomorrow, August 25th, at 4:30pm.
Kenedy ISD will be closed on Friday, August 25th and Monday, August 28th.
KIPP SAN ANTONIO
All KIPP San Antonio schools will release early on Friday, August 25. Follow KIPP on Facebook or Twitter for updates.
LA VERNIA ISD
La Vernia ISD cancelled all classes Friday, August 25th on every campus. All athletic and school sponsored events are cancelled through Monday. Officials will decide on the cancelling Monday's classes by Friday.
NEW BRAUNFELS ISD:
No school on Monday, Aug. 28 - 1st day of school postponed
Due to impending weather conditions, New Braunfels ISD has decided to postpone the first day of school. There will be no school on Monday, August 28, 2017, as originally planned.
We see this weekend's weather as the perfect storm. We are informing you today, so you will have more time to make any arrangements necessary due to this change. We anticipate the first day of school to be on Tuesday, August 29, 2017.
Please note that a few of our schools will be used as evacuation sites and will be hosting other Texans that have been displaced during this time. Due to this fact, we felt this decision was necessary.
NEW FRONTIERS PUBLIC SCHOOLS
New Frontiers Public Schools will close its district office and schools at noon Friday. School officials will monitor weather conditions over the weekend and make a determination by Sunday at 9 p.m. regarding classes on Monday, August 28. Updates will be posted on the school website, social media and sent via School Messenger.
NORTH EAST ISD
All student activities have been cancelled for Sat. Aug. 26, including SAT testing--makeup date is now scheduled for Sept.16.
Northside ISD cancelling all student events for Saturday, August 26, including SAT administration at Brandeis High School on Saturday. NISD says district is currently planning to begin school year on Monday, August 28.
OUR LADY OF THE LAKE
Our Lady of the Lake University San Antonio campus will close at 5 p.m. on Aug. 25 and will remain closed throughout the weekend. Classes scheduled for Aug. 26. will take place online. There will be NO face-to-face classes on campus this weeked. Professors will present class information and assignments through Blackboard.
All campus events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday have been cancelled.
The Sister Annie B's Cafeteria and the Flores Hall Cyber Market will remain open to accomodate on-campus residents.

Pawnee ISD will be closed on Friday, August 25. Classes are tentatively scheduled to resume Monday, August 28.
Pleasanton ISD schools will be closed on Monday, August 28
Poth ISD will be closed on Friday, August 25th.
Runge ISD will be closed Friday, August 25th and Monday, August 28th. Tuesday will be a staff workday, while students report back to school Wednesday. August 30th.
ST. MARY'S UNIVERSITY
Campus closing at 1 p.m. on Friday. No classes over the weekend.
In preparation for the land fall of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Harvey, Stockdale ISD will have an EARLY RELEASE for Friday, August 25, 2017 at 12:30pm.
TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY:
Due to weather concerns associated with Hurricane Harvey, Texas State University has canceled classes for Monday, August 28, 2017, at the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses. The university will be closed except for emergency personnel in Finance and Support Services, the University Police Department, and Information Technology. Classes and normal business operations are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, August 29, 2017.
Select university services including residence halls, Harris and Commons dining facilities, and the Student Recreation Center will remain operational throughout the weekend and on Monday. The LBJ Student Center will be open with limited hours. Bobcat Shuttle service will not be available through Monday.

During heavy rainstorms, low-lying areas on the San Marcos Campus, including Sewell Park, are prone to flooding. Additionally, roadways near the university, including Sessom Drive, Comanche Street, Aquarena Springs Drive, and University Drive can block access to and from the university. Your personal safety is of paramount importance and we encourage you to exercise your best judgment during this weather event.
UNIVERSITY OF THE INCARNATE WORD
