Man arrested for allegedly stabbing man, punching woman in head
GOLIAD, Texas - Authorities arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly stabbed a man twice in Goliad and punched a woman in the head.
Jose Carlos Perez, 21, is accused of stabbing Carlos Padilla, 34, at least twice in the torso with a fixed-blade knife, which was recovered at the scene Saturday. Officials will charge Perez with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault causing bodily injury. He's at the Goliad County Jail with a $39,000 bond.
Witnesses told police the two men were involved in a verbal argument when Perez pulled a knife from his pocked and stabbed Padilla. Perez also punched Marcelina Sanchez Vela, 44, in the head according to witnesses. Vela lives at the house where the stabbing happened. She did not need medical attention.
Aggravated assault is a second-degree felony that can be punishable by 2-20 years in prison, along with a fine up to $10,000.
