Officer dragged by burglary suspects evading authorities, police say
SAN ANTONIO —
An officer is recovering after being dragged by a pair of burglary suspects attempting to flee authorities.
The incident happened in the 11800 block of Bandera Road when the officer was dispatched to a Petsmart for a silent alarm that had gone off. When the officer got to the store, he spotted a suspicious car behind the building and approached the driver and a female passenger.
Authorities said the driver had his hands up and advised the officer he could not turn off the car, but sped off when the officer reached into the car. The officer was dragged approximately 50 feet and sustained bumps and bruises, along with road rash.
SAPD officers pursued the car and the pair of alleged burglars were eventually arrested when they crashed into someone else's car at the intersection of North General McMullen and Culebra.
