Man in custody following police standoff in North Side neighborhood
SAN ANTONIO —
A 32-year-old man is in custody following a 4-hour standoff with police in a North Side neighborhood.
Officers were called to a "shooting in progress" near the intersection of Vance Jackson and Lively shortly after 12 p.m. Saturday. SWAT officers then arrived at scene around 1:45 p.m. , and police said it was a possible hostage situation and they could not release too many other details.
Police later said a young girl and the suspect were involved in some sort of altercation. Witnesses told police the two were outside and that shots were fired. The man then went back into the house and the girl went with him. Chief McManus said there was also a mother and a brother inside the home. The girl, the mother and the brother came out of the house about 2:30 p.m., leaving the suspect inside the house by himself.Chi
Negotiators continued to talk to the suspect, and he then came out and surrendered shortly after 3 p.m. He was arrested and will now likely face charges of aggravated assault.
Chief McManus said the underage girl may be a runaway.
