Police arrested two suspects accused of robbing three hotels and then leading police on a chase through the Northwest Side on Tuesday morning.
According to officers, there were three robberies during the overnight hours at a Holiday Inn, a La Quinta and a Red Roof Inn. The descriptions of the suspects matched in all three crimes.
After the third robbery, an officer spotted the car and began following it. The suspects refused to pull over for police and led them on a chase through several neighborhoods along Vance Jackson and DeZavala Road on the Northwest Side. At one point, they also drove the wrong way along Vance Jackson.
The chase ended when the suspects' car collided with a patrol cruiser, causing a small fire. No one was hurt in the crash and two suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested at the scene. Evidence from the hotel robberies was collected at the scene, said police.
The female suspect was recently released from jail on a robbery charge, said investigators. The pair now face several charges in connection with the robberies and chase.
About an hour after the incident, detectives confirmed they also found a weapon in a nearby neighborhood and believe it was the same weapon used in the robberies.
