Teen, unborn baby found murdered inside apartment after man tries to kill himself

SAN ANTONIO (KABB/WOAI) - A pregnant 15-year-old is dead and the man who police think shot her is alive after shooting himself.

"The caller said an acquaintance of hers had threatened to shoot himself,” said Officer Doug Greene with the San Antonio Police Department.

Police were called around 11 a.m. to a wooded area along Babcock Road.

When police arrived, they found a 35-year-old man who had shot himself. Police then checked nearby Spanish Keys Apartments where the caller said a young woman was living and may also be in harm’s way.

"When the officers arrived, they noticed forced entry, there was a 15-year-old female who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds,” said Greene.

The teen, identified as Jennifer H. Delgado, was nine months pregnant. The unborn baby and the girl were killed. Police also found a 1-year-old inside who was unharmed.

Kyle Momberger, who lives nearby, was woken up by gunshots.

"I woke up to it but I didn't think it was a gunshot whatsoever," he said. "I had to read the news and see what was going on to realize that is what I heard."

Momberger says the area is a quiet one and Monday's events were out of the ordinary.

Police said they were not sure of the man's relationship with the victim and her child.

The suspect, later identified as Armando Rodrigo Garcia-Ramires was charged with two counts of capital murder. Investigators said he suffered a gunshot to the mouth and is expected to recover.

Family members began arriving at the scene at about noon and became visibly upset as they were informed of the deaths.
