SA man accused of taking daughter to Mexico, trying to get her Iraqi passport arrested
BROWNSVILLE, Texas —
A 36-year-old San Antonio man was arrested and charged with international parental kidnapping after he allegedly kidnapped his daughter, fled to Mexico and attempted to get her an Iraqi passport.
Ismail Khaleel Al Gebory was captured in Mexico City, on Feb. 24 and is set to appear before a Houston judge Monday on the charge.
A criminal complaint states the child's mother had sole custody of the kids, but that Al Gebory regularly drove from San Antonio to Brownsville to visit the child and would return her to the mother's home on Sundays.
Al Gebory is accused of picking the girl up Feb. 17, but not returning her.
The girl's mom told authorities he had relatives in Iraq and a complaint states Al Gebory attempted to get the child an Iraqi passport while in Mexico.
The girl has been returned to her mother.
The FBI, Department of State and the Brownsville Police Department participated in the investigation. The agencies were aided by Mexican Customs.
