A San Antonio man was arrested after police say he led officers on a chase in Jourdanton over the weekend.

The Jourdanton Police Department says Officer Cody Presley was patrolling hotels where vehicles had recently been burglarized, when he spotted someone sitting in a car in the dark. Officer Presley approached the vehicle and asked the man for identification.

When the man could not provide any, Officer Presley called for backup, asked the man if he had any weapons and told him to turn off the car. Instead of following the officer’s directions, the man sped off

The man drove the wrong way on the highway while trying to get away. He ended up crashing his car into a fence and running off into a brushy area.

Atascosa County Deputies, Texas State Troopers and Pleasanton Police Department officers joined in to make a quick arrest. No one was injured.

The man was later identified as Shamar Anderson. Police said he was not a guest at the hotel where he was parked. He has been charged with Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle. Reckless Driving, and also booked on outstanding warrants out of Bexar County for Evading Arrest and Criminal Trespassing.
