San Antonio mayor prioritizes training for tech jobs during 'State of the City' address
SAN ANTONIO - Mayor Ivy Taylor gave the annual State of the City address on Wednesday. A top priority for the mayor? She says there is an urgent need to train San Antonians for high tech jobs.
A new report shows that two-thirds of all U.S. cities are losing jobs, but Mayor Taylor says San Antonio is gaining jobs every year and many of them are in technology fields.
The news is positive, but the mayor says more needs to be done to train people to fill those positions.
"Everyone deserves opportunities no matter where they live," she told a packed room at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. "That means we've got to have great neighborhoods, great infrastructure. That means we have to have job opportunities in every corner of San Antonio."
Streaming service Hulu recently announced it is adding 500 jobs here with its new customer service center.
The company 'Capture RX' is also expanding and creating 240 new jobs here.
