SAWS to hire agency to evaluate CEO
SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio Water System is now spending ratepayer money to hire an agency to evaluate their CEO.
The board approved two three-year consulting service contracts with two outside agencies. One of those contracts would be with Scott Madden Incorporated -- a company that would help the board with their annual evaluation of SAWS CEO Robert Puente.
The other contract would be with Paradox Compensation Advisors to help the board review Puente's compensation.
SAWS officials say just this year, Puente received a 5 percent raise which brings his compensation to about $567,000. That includes a bonus of more than $99,000.
The contracts will cost SAWS, and thus ratepayers, about $190,000. SAWS says the money would come from its “General Fund” and will not affect rates.
