Suspect accused of beating pregnant woman with baseball bat
SAN ANTONIO —
A woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly beating a pregnant woman with a baseball bat, causing a big cut on the top her head.
Wajah Marie Smith, 29, will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for her involvement in the attack. An arrest affidavit stated the victim was on her way to work Thursday when she was attacked by Smith after unlocking her vehicle. Smith allegedly struck the pregnant woman on the head with a baseball bat, knocking her to the ground where they continued to fight.
The woman, three months into her pregnancy, tried to protect her unborn child as Smith repeatedly hit her with the bat. She needed stitches for the cuts on the top of her head.
