Woman not using crosswalk struck, killed by vehicle
SAN ANTONIO - A woman was killed Friday night after a vehicle struck her on the city's Northeast Side.
Authorities were called to Rainbow Drive and Austin Highway at about 9 p.m. for reports of an accident. Police said the 34-year-old woman was crossing the street on Austin Highway, when a black Jeep Cherokee traveling westbound hit her and drove away from the scene. The driver went to another location but later returned to the scene.
Police said the woman died at the scene from her injuries. She may have been hit by a second vehicle, police said.
The woman did not use the crosswalk while crossing the street.
Officers at the scene said charges are pending against the driver.
