Girl mauled after getting caught between fighting dogs
A Washington state mother says she wants authorities to euthanize a dog that mauled her daughter.
Mom Tazra Wren says her 5-year-old child, Cassandra, was at a friend's home when the dog began to fight with a smaller dog. Cassandra was caught in the middle and injured in the incident.
“Literally pieces of skin were missing from her face,” Wren said. “Seeing her like that was the most awful thing I’ve ever seen in my life." She was taken to a hospital and received 50 stitches to her face.
The dog, a pit bull named Pac-Man, was picked up by animal control officers and placed in quarantine.
Officers said if the owner can prove the dog is up-to-date with shots, liability insurance and registration, he will be able to go home.
But Wren wants the dog put down. "If I could do it myself, I would have," she said.
Pac-Man's owners said they'll fight to keep him and described the mauling as 'out of character' to a Spokane-area media outlet.
