Texas team joins search for missing 5-year-old boy
A Texas team has joined the search for a 5-year-old boy who went missing from his home in Wichita, Kansas more than two weeks ago.
Lucas Hernandez disappeared from his home on February 17. His stepmother told investigators the child was at the home when she took a shower and then fell asleep.
Over the weekend, Texas Equusearch joined the search for Hernandez.
"We do a lot of stuff still with our horses. We do stuff with ATVs, ground searches. We do a tremendous amount of stuff with the boats, sonar equipment, our drone planes," said Equusearch founder Tim Miller.
Miller told Kansas media outlet KWCH that he understands the pain that Lucas' family is going through. Miller's own daughter went missing many years ago. Her body was found 17 months later.
"I remember every minute of that 17 months of the helplessness, the hopelessness, the loneliness and I just made a promise to God I would never leave a family alone if there's anything I can ever can do and here we are."
Texas Equusearch has helped with more than 1,700 missing persons cases over the years.
