(KPHO/KTVK/CNN Newsource) An Arizona couple rang in 2017 with the birth of their twin sons, who were actually born in difference years, only 10 minutes apart.

Everett Jackson Shaw was the first baby born in 2017 at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Arizona. His brother Sawyer, was the last baby born in 2016 at 11:51 p.m.

"So 11:51 Sawyer joined us," says the twins' father Brandon Shay. "Everett was a little bit more stubborn and so Everett wasn't born until 12:01."

Sawyer weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces at birth. Little Everett was a bit smaller, weighing 4 pounds, 8 ounces.

"Really we were fortunate to be able to carry as long as I did and no NICU time," says mom Holly Shay.

"They are gonna be amazing, they already are, they've already left their a mark on this world," added Brandon.
