AT&T rolling out 5G technology in San Antonio by year's end
SAN ANTONIO - AT&T is launching 5G service before the end of the year, promising faster network speeds and better technology for future driverless vehicles.
According to a press release, San Antonio is one of 23 markets getting the 5G upgraded network. The rollout is expected before the end of 2018.
To explain just how fast the techonology will be, AT&T claims 5G will allow driverless vehicles to make real-time decisions based on information gathered by sensors on the vehicle.
Other Texas cities getting 5G networks include Austin and Houston.
Right now, state law makes it legal for driverless cars to be tested on Texas roads.
