FOX San Antonio - The Valdes View

From Austin to Stillwater, Oklahoma to Portland, Oregon, Kory Cook has studied it all. It was Cook's love of jazz music that brought him to Trinity University two years ago as a teacher and the Music Director for the popular jazz station KRTU. But truth be told, jazz was not Kory's first love.
For more than ten years, Kory Cook pounded the drums and the road with San Antonio rock legends, The Sons of Hercules. So, during a chance meeting when Cook moved here, guitarist John Mata wasted no time inviting him to join him on a new project, "Dark Planes."
Cook admits the all out attack of "Dark Planes" is certainly not jazz. But the group overall combines all the things Cook does love best about his day job. The immediacy, the improv, the individual spirit that comes from the love of just making music.
Dale Johnson on bass and Carlos Herrera on keyboards round out "Dark Planes." It could be a big year for them. They go into the studio for the very first time over Spring Break and they are back in action on February 23rd at a club called Fitzgerald's.
