REPORTS: Cowboys to release Tony Romo on Thursday
After 156 games and franchise bests of 34,183 yards passing and 248 touchdowns, the Tony Romo era in Dallas looks to be coming to an end. Reports from inside the Cowboys organization say the end comes Thursday.
Thursday marks the beginning of free agency. It isn't clear whether Romo, 37, will be released outright or cut.
Romo leaves the Cowboys after losing the starting job to rookie Dak Prescott. Dallas' 10-year starter broke a bone in his back in a preseason game last year.
Romo could never match the postseason success of Super Bowl winners Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.
