UIL to decide whether student in viral referee tackle video can play sports again

The University Interscholastic League's State Executive Committee will discuss whether to allow a San Antonio student who tackled a referee in 2015 can play high school sports again.

Victor Rojas was one of two students suspended from UIL activities after the incident during a game in Marble Falls in September 2015.

The two students claimed they were following orders from an assistant coach.

Assistant Coach Mack Breed pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault for the incident. He received 1.5 years probation and community service and had to surrender his teaching certificate.

The UIL hearing begins at 9 a.m.
