Antonian rallies to beat Churchill in prep baseball clash
SAN ANTONIO - Hard to believe but the high school baseball postseason starts next week.
Churchill has pretty much established itself as the best 6A team in the area, during the regular season, but don't go to sleep on some of the private schools either.
Antonian, as much as anybody, they're on a 15-game winning streak, and facing Churchill on Tuesday.
With two runs on, JD Alvarez plates a run with a single into right. A few batters later, Adam Cabaza hits a grounder with the bases loaded that makes it through the infield that brings in three runs to give the Apaches a 4-0 lead after the first.
But Churchill responds with a big rally in the second.
With the bases loaded and down 4-1, Jesse Herrera cleras the bases with a triple to tie the score at 4-4. The Chargers would add another run to go up 5-4 after two innings.
But Antonian rallied to win a close one, 8-7.
