Former O'Connor star Ecker on fringe of big leagues with Tigers
SAN ANTONIO - It won't be long now before Mark Ecker makes his way to the big leagues. Sooner rather than later we think.
He's got two years in the minors after being drafted in the fifth round by the Detroit Tigers in 2016, he has an ERA under 2.5, and a guy who struck out 112 batters a season ago in 89 innings.
The former O'Connor star has always had a good fastball, but he really worked on his slider and change-up while at Texas A&M and now the pros.
The grind does take some getting used to.
