A home in South Amarillo that is currently for sale caught fire Thursday afternoon.

The Amarillo Fire Department said crews responded to the fire just after 1 p.m. and found the home had a small fire on the outside of the southwest corner.

Firefighters were able to quickly get the fire extinguished, then went inside the home to check for any fire extension on the inside. AFD said crews found the flames had extended inside the exterior wall but not inside the home.

Since the house is currently for sale, it has been unoccupied for some time.

AFD said a what appeared to be a concave mirror was found attached to a fence post "very close to the home." The mirror is actually what caused the fire. The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office determined the fire was caused by the sun reflecting off the mirror and onto the house.

According to AFD, the fire was ruled as accidental and damages from the blaze are estimated to be $4,000.
