WASHINGTON (SBG) — AMC has unveiled a plan to get theaters up and running again after all of them shuttered in March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The company rolled out the "AMC Safe & Clean" plan Thursday, which will go into effect on July 15 when select theaters reopen for business. 10 of its theaters have already reopened in Norway, Germany, Spain and Portugal as coronavirus restrictions ease around the globe.

Social distancing standards of six feet, as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, are encouraged, with signs and reminders posted at convenient locations to help customers navigate. Common areas and touch points will be disinfected throughout the day.

Dine-In and Classic Auditoriums will only allow 30% capacity or less. In auditoriums with traditional seating, every other row will be blocked off for the safety of moviegoers.

There will be extra time between movies, the plan says, so staff are able to properly clean auditoriums between showings.

AMC hasn't specified which theaters will be reopening but says it will communicate those details in the coming days. Have more questions about the reopening? Click here to read FAQs.

Theater business was under pressure in North America even before the coronavirus outbreak hit. It's gotten boosts by raising ticket prices and adding a more luxurious feel with extra meals and drinks, but admissions have been gradually in decline since 2005, according to the Associated Press.
