Juneteenth march and rally to set for Friday

A Juneteenth march and rally will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday to recognize the day when word of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached the state of Texas in 1865.

With ongoing protests in support of racial equality, this year's march is expected to draw more people to the march.

People are asked to meet at 11 a.m. at Pittman-Sullivan Park; participants will then march along Martin Luther King,Jr. Drive to the Freedom Bridge.

Later in the day, a black balloon release is set to take place at 3 p.m. the AT&T Center. People will then march to Pittman-Sullivan Park and back to the AT&T Center.
