SAN ANTONIO- A suspect is now facing charges after he allegedly shot at deputies responding to a car accident and then crashed head-on into a patrol car as he tried to escape.
Around 4 p.m., deputies were responding to an accident involving two cars on FM 78 and Walzem Road.
Deputies pulled the two cars over into a Whataburger parking lot for a "normal crash," when witnesses said another car pulled up and brought out a gun and shot it several times into the ground for an unknown reason.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, that's when deputies began a pursuit on the car, driving down Walzem Road. The suspect then allegedly did a U-turn and hit a deputy's car head on when it was in the middle lane.
The suspect then allegedly got out of the car and fled on foot. Deputies caught up with him and deployed a taser and he was arrested.
The deputy was taken to SAMMC in stable condition.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said the suspect is facing charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
