San Antonio sees another major jump in COVID-19 cases, two more deaths reported

SAN ANTONIO - The area has now confirmed 5,550 COVID-19 cases throughout Bexar County.

As of Thursday evening, 408 new cases were added and two more deaths, bringing the death toll to 92.
According to Mayor Ron Nirenberg, the two new deaths were a man in his 80s and another man in his 70s.
Nirenberg said there were 267 COVID-19 patients in local hospitals, with 92 in the ICU and 40 of those using ventilators.
He also called the increase in the numbers of new cases and hospitalizations here recently 'staggering.'
