SAN ANTONIO - At Black Rifle, coffee is king.
The veteran-owned and operated coffee cafe that takes pride in creating jobs for veterans, is now further promoting the brand through enhanced marketing.
"Marketing really drives the company," said Shane Baker with Black Rifle Coffee Company.
Black Rifle Coffee Company had already enjoyed a huge online following before opening this north side retail store a little over a month ago.
Since then, the cafe has been able to expand its brand by hiring a marketing coordinator who's just starting her career.
"You take a chance on that a little bit but it's worth it in the end in terms of the loyalty and people's willingness to work hard for the company," Baker said.
Jessica Solis credits her paid internship with helping her find work in the tech field.
"I'm so grateful, without it I don't think I would have landed this position, I know I wouldn't have," said Jessica Solis.
The 2018 UTSA graduate says she had a hard time launching her marketing career until she completed the 12-month program with Digital Creative Institute.
"A lot of employers were telling me that I just didn't have the experience,” Solis recounted. “When I tried to submit portfolios for copy and stuff I'd written, it just wasn't enough."
DCI Founder & CEO Brad Voeller said, "It's a huge deal it really is."
Brad Voeller is the founder & CEO of DCI, the company that's providing tech apprenticeships in cyber security, data analytics, software development and digital marketing.
The experience-based program has been recognized by the department of labor, for helping put people to work during the pandemic.
"Apprenticeship is a great bridge because they don't have to have the prior education that aligns exactly with the role they want to get into," Voeller said.
DCI recruits gritty and motivated talent. Over 80% are underrepresented minorities in tech. We bring them through a bootcamp and employer specific projects that ensure they are ready to make an impact from day one. Once the company interviews the apprentice and extends an offer, the 12 month apprenticeship begins. At Black Rifle, coffee is king.
