One common question that I get from my clients is what supplements, if any, should their pet be taking.

The easy answer here is that if your pet is on a well balanced, high quality dog food like Hills Science Diet or Royal Canin, more often than not additional supplementation is unnecessary. However, there are a few common supplements many veterinarians may recommend depending on the case including joint supplements, liver supplements and fish oil.

While there are MANY products readily available through online pharmacies or websites like Amazon, products purchased directly through your vet generally have efficacy statements and are backed by the manufacturer.

Talk to your vet about your pets diet and if additional supplements are in their best interest.
