Texas House Race - District 120: Lou Miller
SAN ANTONIO -- With Super Tuesday just days away, we want you to get to know your candidates before you head to the polls.
This week, we're focusing on the candidates seeking to replace Ruth Jones McClendon, who represents District 120. Lou Miller is one of those candidates.
Among his many titles, he's a former mayoral aide to Ivy Taylor and a former VIA board member. Miller says he'd like to create a central building for state employees on the East Side, one that would employ 1,500 people who would hopefully live near the building to help revitalize the East Side. He also wants to make improvements to our criminal justice system.
"We need to look at our criminal justice as far as reform is concerned," explained Miller. "We need to use more DNA testing. We need to make sure that people are not in jail needlessly and unnecessarily. We also want to take to implement better highway and transportation uses."
His plan to improve transportation would be bringing a light rail to San Antonio. He says instead of spending money on expanding highways, we need to start making it more desirable for people in Texas to give up their pickups.
Friday, you'll hear from Barbara Gervin Hawkins and Byron Miller.
