Selena? Nolan Ryan? Stephen F. Austin? Who's the Top Texan?

The Texas General Land Office is hosting the 'Top Texan Tournament,' a 64-person bracket for history buffs to select the top Texans in history.

The NCAA March Madness tournament will soon interrupt the slow crawl of winter with a burst of competitive energy and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is game. The GLO today announced the 2nd annual Top Texan Tournament, a 64-person bracket for Texans to decide who puts the "star" in Lone Star State.

The tournament is a Texas twist on the popularity of March Madness bracketology. Instead of picking the best college basketball teams, history buffs are asked to build a bracket of the greatest Texans. Selena, Willie Nelson, Sam Houston and Alamo preservationist Adina de Zavala are among the names the GLO selected from public suggestions, James Harkins, GLO Manager of Public Services for Archives wrote.

    Not included: Harambe.

The gorilla was born at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, ABC News reported last year.

Sam Houston, the first president of the Republic of Texas, made the top spot in 2016. Who will rise to the top in 2017?
