San Antonio philanthropist donates $1.4 million for ambulances to care for sick children
SAN ANTONIO —
Local philanthropist Harvey Najim donated $1.4 million to the Children's Hospital of San Antonio for two new ambulances that will help care for some of the most critically ill children.
The ambulances are designed specifically for neo-natal patients and other critical care children.
"You realize that if this hospital didn't have any ambulances, it would take a couple hours, sometimes longer than that for an ambulance to get here. And they have to load their equipment into the ambulance. When they did that, it could be three, four, five hours. That could be a matter of life or death for that child," says Najim.
He adds that of all the donations he's made, this was one of his favorites.
