11 immigrants detained during bailout near Hebbronville
HEBBRONVILLE, Texas -- Border Patrol agents say they have detained 11 undocumented immigrants who tried to avoid a checkpoint in South Texas on Monday.
According to a news release, agents witnessed a car inside a ranch off Farm-to-Market 1017 trying to avoid a Border Patrol checkpoint. Agents tried to approach the car, but it came to an abrupt stop. That's when several people were seen fleeing from the car and ran toward the brush, according to the news release.
Eleven undocumented immigrants were detained, including an unaccompanied minor. Five of the people were from Mexico and six were from Guatemala, according to the news release.
The driver was not found and the car was seized. The group was federally processed.
