18-year-old suspected of shooting hotel clerk in the face turns himself in
The search for the 18-year-old accused of shooting a New Braunfels hotel clerk in the face is over.
Porfirio Navarro III, 18, turned himself in Tuesday to authorities in Eagle Pass, Texas. Police said the clerk was involved in an altercation Jan. 12 with people who were not guests at the hotel. Navarro is accused of firing once and hitting him in the face. The clerk, who's only being identified as a 32-year-old man, was taken to the hospital to treat the gunshot wound.
Authorities issued a warrant for Navarro's arrest, charging him with second degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The New Braunfels police department and the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force tracked Navarro down in Mexico. Navarro turned himself in to Texas authorities as law enforcement closed in.
Navarro is in the Maverick County Sheriff's Office awaiting extradition back to Comal County. His bond is set at $75,000.
