$4-Million in renovations planned for Alamo City Motorplex
SAN ANTONIO - Racing fans get ready.
A revamp is underway at the old San Antonio Raceway!
New owners promise to make the new Alamo City Motorplex a national tourist attraction.
Fox San Antonio's Darian Trotter has more on renovation plans currently underway.
It's the start of great things coming to the Alamo City Motorplex.
"We want to make the country," said new co-owner Essie Mianabi.
New owners not only want to make the Motorplex an international speedway with circle-racing, drifting, and dirt-racing on new soon to be built tracks. They also plan to make the South Santa Clara location a destination resort.
Restaurants and shopping centers are part of the $4-million dollar renovation plans.
"We're thinking of creating.. they can have fun," Mianabi said.
It's his childhood dream come true. Now he's creating low-cost fun for families.
"We love for ... look at it," said Pro-Mod Race Driver Chris Domino.
He's known for his modified Camero that has a more than eighteen-hundred horse power engine.
It's only one of the racing machines you'll see on the track.
It's all computers... in the car," Domino said. "We like to.. give the kids."
So buckle up San Antonio. It's going to be a wild ride full of races.
Races are usually held on Saturday. Admission is free for children 12 and under.
