40,000 books distributed to help support educators, children in SAISD

    SAN ANTONIO - A teachers organization teamed up to host a book give away Saturday afternoon geared towards helping educators and children in need.

    The San Antonio Alliance of Teacher and Support Personnel partnered with First Book to distribute 40,000 new books to SAISD parents, teachers and employees. The "Share the Magic of Books" took place from 9-2 p.m. Saturday at VIA Metropolitan Transit's The Grand Building.

    SAISD students, parents, teachers, SAISD employees, and anyone working with students in SAISD programs is eligible to get books for their program. Free literacy activities and community resources was available for all families in attendance.

    First Book has distributed more than 100 million new books to thousands of schools and community programs around the country, serving children from low-income families since 1992.
