Neighbor recounts horrifying fork attack on woman who begged for help
SAN ANTONIO —
A man is behind bars after police say he broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and attacked her with a meat fork.
Fox San Antonio talked to a neighbor who heard the woman's frantic cries for help.
"Help me help me somebody help me I'm very scared, I'm very scared," neighbor Ana Juangoreana said. "I don't want to go with him. Help me please help me."
She's describing her neighbor's desperate cries for help Sunday night during a vicious attack allegedly at the hands of her ex-boyfriend.
Police say 52 year old Richard Rodriguez climbed through a window of the victim's home, then kicked in the bathroom door where she was hiding.
Investigators say he grabbed a meat fork and forced the woman to follow him outside.
"I see when she go fighting with him but he hold her and they walking over there."
Sheriff's investigators say Rodriguez had already assaulted the victim on August 19th.
She was given a protective order against him, but that apparently wasn't enough to keep him away.
Reporter Darian Trotter asked, "Have you seen him around here before? Yes, evenings and mornings," Juangoreana replied.
Fox San Antonio checked and found that Richard Rodriguez is a registered sex offender stemming from a sexual assault back in May of 1991.
Juangoreana was terrified when she saw the victim bleeding after police say Rodriguez repeatedly stabbed her with the meat fork on her torso and head.
"Just telling my husband, call the police, call the police."
According to investigators Rodriguez told the victim if police were called he'd kill her.
He was arrested Tuesday and charged with violating the protective order, burglary, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Trotter said, "Because you called the police, you probably helped save her life." Juangoreana replied, "Yeah I know."
Rodriguez was arrested 14 miles away from the victim's home.
He's being held on a $65,000 bond.
