Activist rally outside Bexar County jail in support of undocumented immigrants
SAN ANTONIO, TX - Illegal immigration is one of the most talked about topics in the country; Families separated and detained around our state.
And right here in town, activists are trying to reach those they believed are detained.
They chanted "Say it loud, say it clear, immigrants are welcome here."
A message loud and clear.
"We are here because detention is always separation," one activist said.
Activists hoping their sound can be heard inside the Bexar County Jail where they believe undocumented immigrants are detained.
"At the end of the day, I want people to be treated like humans and not like animals," Another activist said.
Dozens from all walks of life had the same language against the current state of our immigration system.
There were even kids there, coloring as the sounds grew louder.
"People cannot be property," Another activist said.
Some hope for open borders.
While everyone's goal today is to make sure they were heard by the ears of undocumented immigrants.
We reached out to Bexar County Detention Center and asked them how many, if any undocumented immigrants were detained.
We are told they are getting back to us on our request.
