Affidavit: Man sold teen girl to friends and family, raped her several times
SAN ANTONIO —
According to an affidavit, a 20-year-old man is now facing charges for allegedly raping a teen multiple times and selling her to his friends and family.
The investigation began when the victim called her parents and asked them to pick her up at a motel on May 14. The teen had run away and had been missing for about a month until she had contacted her parents. The victim and her family then called police.
The victim told police she said she had met with a man named "Jerry" before she ran away, but at some point decided to go back home. That's when "Jerry" allegedly began sending her threatening messages, claiming he would hurt her family if she didn't return. Out of fear, she returned. That's when he began assaulting her and telling her that he was going to sell her to other people, according to an affidavit. He also allegedly forced her to "smoke ice and weed," according to the affidavit.
During the first few days, "Jerry" forced her to have sex with his cousin, friend and a neighbor, according to the affidavit. All of them allegedly gave "Jerry" money. Over the next month, the victim said "Jerry" raped her multiple times. She was finally able to get away on May 14 when she was reunited with her family.
Before investigators arrested "Jerry," he attempted to contact the victim but she ignored him. The victim's mother was able to get screen shots of his profile and the messages he sent, which helped investigators pinpoint a suspect. Further investigation then led them to 20-year-old Gerardo Rocha.
The victim told investigators that he often visits family in Mexico and feared he'd take her there. Her mother feared she'd run away with him again.
Rocha was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child.
