SAN ANTONIO — Every morning for the past four months, Hyacinth Smith has walked into her daughter’s bedroom and spoken to her.
“What I said this morning is, ‘Andreen I am so sorry for what happen this way and you did not deserve it,’” Smith said.
For more than 130 days, Smith prayed her daughter, Andreen McDonald, would come home.
Her remains were found Thursday.
“It’s not a full body it’s just a couple bones and she don’t deserve that,” Smith said.
Andreen’s husband, Andre McDonald, has been arrested and charged with the murder.
Smith says Andre has a temper, but her daughter was a fighter and they would always work things out.
“I don’t know what got into him this [time] but it must be the devil," Smith said. "I don’t know."
Smith says the motive for the alleged murder is a mystery to her.
She says she wishes Andre would have just filed for divorce.
Now, Smith lives in the home where Andreen likely died.
Taking care of her 8-year-old autistic granddaughter who will never see her mother again.
“She is very happy because she doesn’t know that her mom is not coming back,” Smith said.
Smith wants people to remember Andreen as a strong business leader and passionate, loving person.
The family is still waiting to get the remains back from the Bexar County Medical Examiner, then they’ll figure out funeral arrangements.
