Suspicious package prompts evacuation of SAPD's North substation
SAN ANTONIO -- Police evacuated the area near the San Antonio Police Department's North substation after a suspicious package was taken to the station.
It was all prompted when a man walked into the station saying he had received a suspicious package. Officers at the substation's front desk noticed a white substance leaking from the package and immediately called the appropriate law enforcement agency.
Police said someone had mailed the package to an address in Florida. The package was then shipped back with a "return to sender" label, but the person who received it said there was no way that it was them who originally sent it.
"Given that the political climate has been such, people inside decided to take precaution and move away from the package and call people that knew what to do with it before we got the green light and the all clear out here," said SAPD Public Information Officer Carlos Ortiz.
