SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Police Department confirmed two bodies were found inside a Northwest Side home after an apparent murder-suicide.

Officers placed crime scene tape in front of the two story house on Sunset Glade shortly 1 p.m. Wednesday after the bodies of a man and woman were discovered inside.

Investigators said two boys inside the house, ages 14 and 10, reportedly heard gunshots early Wednesday morning. After they tried unsuccessfully to open the master bedroom door, they went back to bed. Late Wednesday morning and into early Wednesday afternoon, the older child made his way into the bedroom and found the bodies of his mother and her boyfriend.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the woman as 46-year old Linda Vela. They are still working to identify the 48-year old male officers found with her.

Neighbors said Vela had been seeing the boyfriend on and off for a couple of months. The neighbors said she had lived in the neighborhood for 17 years and that it was a quiet neighborhood with lots of families.

Her sons are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
